Serge Lutens is one of the world’s most respected perfumers, highly regarded for his innovative fragrances which combine notes in unusual ways. He has a particular affinity for Morocco, which awakened his love of perfume in the late 1960s. A polymath, he is also a noted artist, photographer and interior designer, amongst other things.

We invite you into the extraordinarily beautiful, unconventional, complex and mysterious world of Serge Lutens perfumes.

Serge Lutens was born during the war, on March 14th, 1942 in Lille, in northern France. He spent his childhood in the north saying of himself that he was always the head “on the moon”. At the age of 18, he came to Paris and, passionate about beauty, he called the magazine Vogue to work with them.

He was the creator of a vision through makeup, jewelry and extraordinary objects. Serge Lutens quickly became the person to call, and the fashion magazines were not mistaken: Elle, Jardin des Modes, Harper’s Bazaar were constantly after him.

In 1967, Christian Dior, who was preparing to launch its makeup line, called upon him. For the House of Dior he would create colors, style and images. In 1982, for Shiseido, he conceived Nombre Noir, his first perfume, a fragrance that foreshadowed the ubiquitous codes of the 1990’s.

While his first perfume marked the 1980’s, it was through his creation of Féminité du bois and Les Salons du Palais Royal in 1992, that Serge Lutens led his first true olfactory revolution in the field of perfume.

Serge Lutens, this is the world of exquisite dreams and pure emotions, the world where the most precious, most authentic and rarest essences are woven into unique harmonies.

There are florals, dazzling and luscious like A La Nuit, Fleurs d’Oranger and Sa Majeste La Rose, delicate and refined, like Fleurs de Citronnier and Gris Clair, and mesmerizing and hypnotic, like Datura Noir. There are the sultry, enigmatic oriental elixirs, Arabie, Ambre Sultan, Fille en Aiguilles. The magnificent woods, Un Bois Sepia, Un Bois Vanille, Cedre. And the softest and most elegant of suedes, Daim Blond…

Today you can find the Serge Lutens fragrances in specialized and selective distribution and more confidentially at the Palais Royal-Serge Lutens boutique. The exceptional man, Serge Lutens was awarded from the Fragrance Foundation for its beautiful creations and received the distinction of Commander in the Order of Arts and Letters.
